Forgiveness and Mercy
Kneeling in Humility: Seeking Healing Through Christ’s Mercy
Lord Jesus Christ, merciful Savior, I come before You today with a heart burdened by the weight of my sins. I kneel in humility, recognizing my weaknesses and my failures. You are the source of all goodness, the light that shines in the darkness, and I confess that I have strayed from Your path. I have allowed myself to be led astray by my own desires and choices. But today, I seek Your mercy, knowing that You are a God of love and forgiveness, slow to anger and rich in compassion.
Jesus, I acknowledge before You all the times I have turned away from You—through selfishness, pride, and negligence. There have been moments when I have acted out of anger, spoken words that wounded others, and failed to show the love that You have shown me. I have let resentment and bitterness take root in my heart, and I have distanced myself from Your love. I am sorry, Lord, for all these offenses. I confess them to You, not to hide them, but to seek the healing that only Your mercy can provide.
You, O Jesus, who forgave even those who crucified You, who showed compassion to the woman caught in adultery, and who welcomed the repentant thief into paradise, I ask that You now look upon me with the same mercy. I know that my sins are great, but Your love is greater. Your sacrifice on the cross, Your death and resurrection, have opened the doors to salvation for all who come to You in repentance. I come to You now, Lord, with a heart that desires to be cleansed and renewed.
Lord, I ask for Your forgiveness. Wash me clean of my iniquities. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, but restore to me the joy of Your salvation. I know that without You, I am lost. But with You, I can be made whole again.
Jesus, I also ask for the grace to turn away from the sins that have kept me distant from You. Give me the strength to resist temptation, the wisdom to avoid those things that lead me away from You, and the courage to live a life that reflects Your love and truth. Help me to be a witness of Your mercy to others, so that through my actions and words, they too may come to know Your boundless love.
Lord, I come before You with the burden of guilt. Too often, I have held on to shame, feeling unworthy of Your love. But today, I lay all my guilt at the foot of Your cross. I trust in Your words that those who come to You will not be turned away. I believe in Your promise that You came not for the righteous, but for sinners like me. And so, I come, trusting in Your mercy, confident that You will lift me up and set me on the path to righteousness.
Jesus, I thank You for Your unfailing love. I thank You for the sacrifice You made for me and for all of humanity. You willingly gave Your life so that I might have eternal life. There is no greater gift than this, and I am deeply grateful for the love that You continue to show me, even when I have fallen short of Your glory.
As I receive Your forgiveness, Lord, help me also to forgive others. You have taught me to pray, “Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.” I confess that there are times when I have held on to anger and resentment. There are people in my life whom I have struggled to forgive. But today, I ask for Your grace to release those hurts, to let go of the bitterness, and to offer the same mercy to others that You have shown me. Teach me to love as You love, to forgive as You forgive.
Lord Jesus, I place my life in Your hands. I trust in Your divine will, even when it is difficult to understand. I trust that You are guiding me, even in the moments when I feel lost or confused. Help me to walk in faith, to surrender to Your will, and to trust that You have a plan for me—a plan for good, for hope, and for a future filled with Your love.
As I move forward from this moment of prayer, I ask that You remain with me always. Be my guide, my protector, and my constant companion. Help me to seek You in all that I do, and to remember that in You, I will always find forgiveness, mercy, and love. Let my life be a testament to Your grace, a reflection of the mercy that You extend to all who turn to You.
Lord Jesus, I thank You for hearing my prayer. I thank You for Your patience with me, and for the many times You have welcomed me back into Your loving arms. I know that I am not deserving of Your love, but I also know that You offer it freely to those who seek it. I come to You now, and I will continue to come to You, trusting in Your mercy and in Your promise of eternal life.
In Your holy and precious name, I pray. Amen.
This prayer calls upon Jesus' forgiveness, reflecting on personal sin and asking for the strength to turn away from it, while expressing gratitude for His love and mercy. It emphasizes trusting in God's plan and forgiving others as well.
