Today's Prayer To Our Lord Jesus Christ For...

Forgiveness and Mercy

A Cry for Mercy: Trusting in the Boundless Love of Christ

Lord Jesus Christ, my Savior and Redeemer, I come before You today with a heart that is heavy with the burden of my sins. You, who are the source of all mercy and compassion, see into the deepest recesses of my soul. You know every thought, every action, and every failure in my life. I stand before You not to hide, but to humbly acknowledge my weaknesses and ask for Your unfathomable mercy.

You, O Lord, are the embodiment of love and forgiveness. Throughout Your earthly ministry, You extended Your mercy to sinners, to those who were lost, to those who had strayed far from the path of righteousness. In You, the broken found healing, the guilty found pardon, and the despairing found hope. And so, I come before You now, trusting in Your boundless mercy, confident that Your love is greater than all my failings.

Lord, I confess to You the many ways in which I have turned away from You. I have been selfish when I should have been selfless, proud when I should have been humble, and indifferent when I should have acted in love. I have allowed my desires to lead me astray, choosing the things of this world over the eternal treasures You offer. I have spoken harsh words that wounded others, and I have remained silent when I should have spoken the truth in love.

Forgive me, Lord, for the times when I have placed my own will above Yours. In my pride, I have acted as though I could navigate life on my own, without the need for Your guidance. I have allowed my own ambitions and desires to cloud my judgment, and in doing so, I have turned my back on the very source of true joy and peace—You, my Lord.

But You, O Jesus, are the Good Shepherd who never abandons His sheep. Even when I have wandered far from You, You have sought me out, calling me back to Your fold with love and tenderness. You have waited for me with patience, never turning Your face away, even when I was ashamed to turn back to You.

Today, Lord, I ask for Your forgiveness. Cleanse me from the guilt that weighs on my heart, and free me from the chains of sin that keep me bound. I know that Your mercy is greater than any sin I have committed, and I trust in Your promise of forgiveness to all who turn to You with a repentant heart.

Lord, I also ask for the grace to forgive myself. Often, I carry the weight of my past mistakes and failures, allowing them to hold me back from fully experiencing the freedom and joy You offer. But I know that when You forgive, You forgive completely. Help me to release my guilt and shame, knowing that You have already taken these burdens upon Yourself on the cross.

Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your sacrifice on Calvary. I thank You for shedding Your precious blood to wash away my sins and the sins of all mankind. There is no greater act of love than this—that You, the spotless Lamb of God, would lay down Your life for me, a sinner. Your sacrifice is my hope, my refuge, and my salvation. It is through Your death and resurrection that I can be reconciled to the Father, and for this, I will be forever grateful.

Grant me, Lord, the strength to turn away from sin and live a life that is pleasing to You. I know that I cannot do this on my own, for I am weak and prone to fall. But with Your grace, all things are possible. Give me a heart that longs for righteousness, that seeks to do Your will above all else. Fill me with the Holy Spirit, that I may be empowered to live as a true disciple, bearing witness to Your love and mercy in the world.

Help me, Lord, to forgive those who have wronged me, just as You have forgiven me. Remove any bitterness or resentment from my heart, and replace it with love and compassion. Teach me to love my enemies, to pray for those who persecute me, and to extend mercy even when it is difficult. In doing so, may I reflect Your perfect love to those around me.

Jesus, I place my trust in You. I know that You are a God of second chances, and I thank You for the opportunity to start anew. I surrender my life into Your hands, knowing that You will guide me on the path of righteousness. Lead me, Lord, into the fullness of life that You have promised to those who follow You.

In Your holy and precious name, I pray. Amen.
