A Prayer to Mother Mary for Growth in Patience and Virtue

O Holy Mother Mary,

I come before you today seeking your guidance and intercession as I strive to grow in patience and virtue. You, who lived a life of perfect patience and steadfast faith, are my example of how to endure life’s challenges with grace. In your life, you faced many moments of trial and uncertainty, yet you always remained patient and trusting in God’s will. I ask for your intercession as I seek to cultivate that same spirit of patience and virtue in my own life.

O Blessed Mother, I recognize that patience is a virtue that I often struggle with. Whether it be in waiting for God’s plan to unfold, dealing with difficult circumstances, or responding to the imperfections of others, I sometimes find myself growing frustrated or anxious. Help me, O Mary, to develop a heart that is patient and trusting, knowing that God’s timing is perfect. Teach me to accept life’s delays and challenges with peace, understanding that they are opportunities for growth and holiness.

You, O Mary, are the Mother of Patience. When you learned of God’s plan for you to be the Mother of the Savior, you responded with complete trust, even though you did not fully understand how everything would unfold. Throughout your life, you waited patiently for God’s plan to be revealed, from the time of Jesus’ birth to His ministry and finally to His death and resurrection. Help me to emulate your patience, trusting that God’s plan for my life is unfolding in His perfect time.

O Mary, I also ask for your intercession as I strive to grow in patience with others. In my relationships with family, friends, and coworkers, I sometimes become impatient when things do not go as I expect or when others’ actions frustrate me. Help me to respond with love and understanding, rather than frustration or anger. Teach me to see Christ in others, especially in those who challenge my patience, and help me to approach every situation with a heart full of compassion.

In moments when I feel overwhelmed by life’s difficulties, O Mother, be my source of strength and comfort. Remind me that God is with me, even in the most trying times, and that He is working all things for my good. Help me to persevere in faith, knowing that God’s grace is sufficient to carry me through every trial. Let me remain steadfast in my trust in God, even when the road ahead seems uncertain or difficult.

O Mother of Divine Grace, I also ask for your help in growing in other virtues that are closely related to patience. Help me to develop a heart that is full of kindness, gentleness, and self-control. When I am tempted to react harshly or impatiently, guide me to respond with kindness and understanding. Teach me to be gentle with myself and others, recognizing that we are all on a journey toward holiness and that we all have weaknesses and imperfections.

I also ask for your help in growing in the virtue of perseverance. You, who remained faithful to God’s plan even in the face of immense suffering, teach me to persevere in my own journey of faith. When I am tempted to give up or lose hope, remind me of your steadfast faith and trust in God’s promises. Help me to remain committed to growing in virtue, even when the path is difficult or when progress seems slow.

O Mary, Queen of Heaven, I ask for your guidance as I seek to grow in self-discipline and temperance. Help me to develop the habit of moderation in all things, whether it be in my desires, actions, or thoughts. Teach me to control my impulses and to seek balance in my life, always choosing what is good, true, and virtuous over what is fleeting or harmful. Let me grow in self-control, that I may live a life that reflects God’s love and wisdom.

Mother Mary, I also ask for your intercession as I strive to grow in humility. Help me to recognize my own weaknesses and to depend entirely on God’s grace. Let me not seek to elevate myself or my desires above others but instead to serve with humility and love. Teach me to be humble in all my actions and words, knowing that true greatness lies in serving with love and humility.

Thank you, O Blessed Mother, for your constant love and care. I ask that you continue to pray for me, that I may grow in patience, virtue, and holiness, and that I may become the person God has created me to be.
